How do we help patients?

At Sydney Pain Management Centre we offer a team of highly experienced professionals. Our expert practitioners aim to reduce acute, chronic and complex pain and enhance every single one of our patients’ quality of life, because we care.

At SPMC we believe we treat our patients the way we would want our family members treated. We understand chronic pain and the effects it has on quality of life and since pain affects every aspect of the patient, the preferred and most beneficial treatment is a multi-disciplinary approach. This means providing treatment for the entire physical, mental, and emotional being.

Through the collaboration of our multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, psychologists and physiotherapists, we take a holistic approach to every patient’s pain management, looking at all lifestyle factors that could contribute to the condition.

At SPMC we treat a range of pain conditions including:

How do I make an appointment?

A written referral from your general practitioner (GP), specialist physician or allied health specialist is required before an appointment booking can be made. Please ask your General Practitioner (GP) to use the referral form on our website. All referrals are accepted. A referral made by a GP will last at least 12 months. A referral from your specialist will last 3 months, after that time it is usually preferred to obtain an ongoing referral from your GP. Your GP may also be asked to provide special referrals to our physiotherapist or clinical psychologist.

How will you help me?

Our team of experts are actively involved in research and multi-centre clinical trials, we provide patients with access to the latest therapies and advancements.

New ideas and discoveries are constantly being made and shared by pain doctors each year on a world-wide platform. At SPMC, we ensure we provide each patient with up to date and current advancements and technologies.

How long are the appointments?

A Pain Specialist will undertake an initial consultation which will take approximately 60 minutes. This comprehensive assessment will also entail a full and thorough self assessment will ensure we gain an understanding of your history and your current concerns. Patients may require more than one consultation to be able to fully understand the problem.

From your consultation and assessment, a pain management plan will be formulated which may include a combination of our treatment options.

How long will I be treated at the Centre?

We believe treatment requires a partnership between the patient and their clinician. Treating chronic pain requires a commitment from the patient and clinician to frequently meet, evaluate, and assess or reassess the treatment plan. At SPMC we are committed to helping you. We understand that pain causes stress and exhaustion and can limit your ability to function normally. We will work with you every step of the way and many of our patients have benefited from our treatments and been able to achieve sustainable pain reduction and have been able to return to normal life.
